<div itemprop="description">And so passes a great man&hellip; Armand Lucien Giroux passed into legend Saturday, August 1 2015. Armand was the first Giroux born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He was the 7th of 13 children to his mum. Mimi told us the story of how she needed a miracle child for help around the house. Mimi went to Church and prayed every day that God would send someone special. Her prayer was answered on January 7, 1930&hellip;and help he did. Pops loved to work. At a young age, he owned a dry cleaning business. As Pops would say, he didn't have much schooling, but he had an advanced degree in the school of hard knocks. At 35, he met and married his great love. Through almost 50 years they never left each other's side. They started their family and he also started working at Ford, hardly missing a day in 30 years. When he retired at 65, he went straightway into working for Hospice, where he stayed for the rest of his life; refusing to be remunerated for his service. During all that time, he kept an open door policy at his house. Over the years, he sat and counselled, housed and fed many, many people. Some people came for a night, others for a year. We are all better for it. In the end, he gave all he had and more. We will never see his like again. But, we are grateful that we knew him, let alone had the joy of being one of the few that could call him Father. We will be forever grateful that we lived in the time when Armand Lucien Giroux walked the earth, and loved us. He is survived by his wife, Gloria. He is also survived by his 3 children; Mike, John and Stephanie. Loving Pipi to; Jordan (Mike), Nathan and Megan (John), Dakota, Braeden, Luke and Cordelia (Stephanie). In lieu flowers, donations to Hospice of Windsor in his name would be appreciated. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Marcotte Funeral Home (12105 Tecumseh Rd. 519-735-2830). Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at St. Anne's Cemetery. In lieu flowers, donations to Hospice of Windsor in Armand's name would be appreciated.</div>
