Bern grew up in Riverside and moved to Belle River where she married the love of her life Earl in 1943. Together they shared their remarkable love and happiness over 63 years, growing their family of 4 daughters (Earls Girls) into a clan of 35. Bern (Stubern!) was a stronghold for her family, never wavering from her addiction of love and devotion to all of us. She was an exceptional Mother, a natural born teacher and caregiver, without any hesitation. Her values and respect for a disciplined life filled with love, hard work, & lots of laughter, to be always surrounded by family - that's what kept her with us for 96 years, and we were blessed to have her teach us how to turn any worries into sunshine and rainbows. As her daughters, we lived a fairy tale life filled with unconditional love, strength, and adoration, with continual teachings to right whats ever wrong, and to pick ourselves up and straighten our crown and remember whose daughter we are, the Queen of Hearts. With limited education she had unlimited talents - cooking, baking (Aunt Bern's infamous date squares), knitting sewing, canning - a creative and resourceful crafter of endless energy. Anyone entering her home could feel the love and warmth of a happy home and family, always room for one more at the table. Her "Bernism's" were funny, infectious, and will be repeated through all the generations with fond remembrance and laughter, like... "If you drop your fork, that means a woman's coming over" - and Dad, here she comes.
