<div itemprop="description">(nee Sutherland) <br>Born on April 4, 1919 in Aberdeen, Scotland and died peacefully with family by her side in Tecumseh, Ontario on February 7, 2016 at the age of 96. A full, happy, unique and adventurous life with many wonderful memories. Predeceased by her husband of 53 years James Macarthur “Mac” Paterson (1997), sister Audrey VanKleeck of Vancouver (2013), grandson Bradley Paterson (1999) and daughter-in-law Diane Paterson (2013). Wren (Woman’s Royal Naval Service), war bride, painter, author and long-time member of Tecumseh United Church. She loved her family, her many friends, bagpipes, dancing, music, singing, gardening, bridge, all things Scottish and her faithful dog Annie. Survived and lovingly remembered by John (Glenda) Paterson of White Rock, B.C., Dave (Susan) Paterson of Lakeshore, ON, Rick (Theresa) Paterson of Ottawa, ON, and Rod (Sharon) Paterson of Ottawa, ON. 9 grandchildren; Brad, Sarah (Jarrod), Suzie (Ryan), Kate (Bill), Patty (Sean), Jaclyn, James (Kaileigh), Jennifer (Tom) and Tracey. 6 great-grandchildren; Mac and Jake Kenney, Jackson and Cooper Smith, Adelaide and Rylan Steinke. Dorothy will also be missed by many nieces and nephews living in the Vancouver area. Special thanks for the love and care provided at Heron Terrace. Fiesty and humourous, oft said without guilt “Kiss my thistle” or “Up your kilt”. A Bonnie Scottish lassie and a life well lived. A service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be announced in the next wee while. Arrangements entrusted to Marcotte Funeral Home (519-735-2830). Please accept our invitation to Beach Grove Golf & Country Club to celebrate Dorothy's life and to share your memories with her family on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
