Margaret Helen Horuczi Fedich

May 26, 1925 - May 29, 2013

It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my beautiful mother Margaret Fedich.
Loving and devoted daughter of the late Steven and Barbara Horuczi. I can only let her go knowing that she will be greeted in Heaven by my loving father John Peter Fedich, her son Joseph John (1948) and all our loved ones that have lead the way.

I, Cheryl Elizabeth Fedich McWha Amort and son-in-law Joseph Leslie Amort are left to mourn her loss, celebrate her life and continue her legacy of good deeds. I was so blessed to have two loving parents who lead a virtuous life. They taught me to have complete faith and trust in God, and to treat others with compassion, kindness, thoughtfulness, honesty and sincerity.

Although an only child I was taught that we are lucky to have a roof over our head, food on the table and clothes on our back and that everything else was a luxury gained through good health, hard work, self-discipline and character and mom always added, “Remember to spoil yourself just a little.”

Family and friends were number one. Also waiting in Heaven with open arms are her beloved sisters Pauline Kiss, Barbara Oravecz & Betty Murphy. Sister-in-law Mary Fedich and brothers-in-law Steve Kiss, Calmine Szakonyi, Steve Lendvai, Steve Oravecz, Thomas Murphy, Mike Fedich, Bill Horvath, Andre Comeau and Dr. Paul Quenneville. Her niece Olga Carter, nephews Steve & Joe Kiss, and Edward Szakonyi.

Her memory cherished still by her beloved sister Mary Lendvai and sister-in-law Irene Quenneville and Goddaughter Lori Simon.

Also mourning her loss nieces and nephews Laraine Munro & Ted Trusevich, Mary Fox (late Lloyd Fox), Pearl& Lee Vandelinder, Shirley & Gary Rumball, Steve &Ruth Lendvai, Sharon & Bud Alderman, Wayne & Nancy Murphy, Rick Murphy, Edward Murphy, Roger& Roelle Murphy, Darren & Teresa Murphy, Angela & Pete McInnes, Mary Ann Nagy (late Lou), Sue & Doug Dupont, Priscilla Drouillard (late Roland), Rudy & Linda Horvath, Gloria and Jacques Kenny, Bill & Debbie Horvath, Denise & Tony Laperi, Danielle & Brian Gorman and their families. Numerous great nieces & nephews around the world to continue her good works and recent “great-great”nieces and nephews.

No matter how busy her day the house was immaculate, her garden impeccable, her appearance glamourous as she prepared delicious meals for dad & I to come home to.

Cherished member of St. Anthony Hungarian Church, Sacred Heart, Most Precious Blood, St. John Vianney and St. Thomas the Apostle. Mom was a devoted Catholic Womens’ League (C.W.L.) Member holding every executive office including President. She was involved with Parish Councils, Choirs and was proud to participate in the World Day of Prayer each year.
Mom firmly believed “ we are all God’s children and working together will be our only means of success.”

She was an active member of St. Cecile P.T.A. where she convened many school fairs, Christmas concerts and she was the first woman elected to President which was quite an accomplishment in the 50's & 60's.

She volunteered extensively in the community and everyone remembers her kind, loving spirit and huge smile. She volunteered with the Cancer Clinic, Hospice, The Humane Society and Crimestoppers.

She was proud of her work with Stats Canada and the Liberal Party where she was so pleased to shake hands with with Pierre Trudeau and John Chretian. Truly a proud and patriotic Canadian Mom said, “ A great country can only be made by great citizens”. She was proud of her work with Elections Canada holding positions from clerk to District Returning Officer for all elections Municipal, Provincial and Federal.

Dear to her heart were her many medals and plaques from the C.W.L., Beautification Awards from the City of Windsor, Crimestoppers and she especially revered her letters of appreciation from then Mayor Mike Hurst for her volunteerism in the community and thanks for her work with the Knights of Columbus. Mom thought we can only have real success when we build a bridge of unity within our community.

Many reading this will say, “Oh my, a little full of ourselves aren”t we?” but those who truly loved and treasured her will only say, “Yes, that’s the Margaret we know.”

Thank you to Windsor Regional Hospital & Rehabilitation Centre, CCAC, Banwell Gardens,
Brouillette Manor, Season Royal Oak Lasalle, Aspen Lake, The Alzheimer Society, Malden Park Day Away, The Red Cross and all the Doctors, Nurses and staffs who cared so lovingly for Mom. We couldn’t have done it without your support.

Flowers are welcomed as Mom delighted in making bouquets from her garden and taking them to someone to brighten their day.

Donations to the aforementioned charities or a charity of your choice is appreciated. Her vascular dementia following her massive stroke may have taken her away but it could never fully take away her graciousness and beautiful smile.

So my darling Mom, I send you on your way to my darling Dad where I hope you will dance forever in eternal bliss while singing your favourite song “Perhaps Love”. May you be greeted by the beautiful smiles of all our loved ones who have gone before you. May God grant you eternal peace and serenity. May God bless us all with his mercy and love.
