NAGY, Margaret (Peggy) Olwen (née Clarke)

Peggy passed away peacefully in her sleep on Christmas morning at the age of 91. She was the cherished and devoted wife for 68 years of Alexander (Alan) who passed away on January 8, 2014. She missed him dearly!

Peggy was born in England and came to Canada as a War Bride. She and Alan settled in Windsor where they provided a love-filled and nurturing home to their three sons, David, Danny (Hélène Contant) and Stephen (Agnese). Peggy was the proud grandmother of Jennifer (Paul Ray), Douglas (Karen), Gabriel, Nicholas, Sacha, Vanessa (Gregory Delisle), Victoria and Philip, and the doting great grandmother of Abigail, Rebecca and Nicholas Ray and Falynn Nagy. She will be missed by her brother-in-law Peter and many nieces and nephews in Canada and England.

Peggy’s passions were her family, books, cooking and baking, gardening and singing.

A volunteer position helping at her local library became a fulfilling career as a Librarian with the Essex County Public Library system from where she retired in 1988.

She was, until recent years, a loyal and active member of St. Gregory the Great Parish where she particularly enjoyed singing in the choir.

A longtime member of the Canadian War Brides of WWII Association, she embraced her adopted country of Canada, but lovingly passed on her British heritage and traditions to her family. The lighting of her plum pudding on Christmas Day was always the highlight of the year!

Visitation will take place at Marcotte Funeral Home, 12105 Tecumseh Rd., Tecumseh (519-735-2830) on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 8 p.m. Further visitation on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at Good Shepherd Parish – St. Gregory Site, from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.

Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Country Village Health Center for providing a warm and welcoming environment and for their dedicated care.

In kindness, memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Association would be appreciated.

You may leave your condolences online at www.marcottetecumseh.ca
