(June 27th, 1930 - October 31st, 2015)

Born, in Belle River Ontario to the late Valerie (d.1962) and Louis St. Pierre (d.1978). Lifelong resident of ESSEX COUNTY, (Tecumseh Ontario). A devout practicing Catholic who volunteered his spare time and carpentry skills for his parish, St. Anne Church in Tecumseh, and other parishes in Essex County as well as for friends and family. It is with heavy hearts we share with you the passing of a humble man, Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Pépé, at the young age of 85 from complications of a stroke. Roland was surrounded by family in death as he was in life.

Roland leaves behind, Joyce, his loving and caring wife with whom he shared 59 years of marriage and their children, Claudette Meloche (Randy) Leamington ON; Claire-Marie Peach (Alan) Tecumseh ON; Rochelle Matwechuk (Kelowna, BC); Catherine St. Pierre (Gerry Girard) Windsor ON; Jeannine St. Pierre (Dave Falzon) Windsor ON; Daniel St. Pierre (Lasalle,ON) and Bernadette Bourdeau (Leonard) Windsor ON. His Grandchildren Roger (Cristina), Randy (Jen) Russell and Robert Meloche; Lauren Peach Lanoue (Greg); Colin and Austin Peach; Lance (d.1986), Elise and Justin Matwechuk; Felicia Kelly, Travis St. Pierre (Renee), Pauline Todesco (Steve); Eric St. Pierre (Brandi). Great-Grandfather of 10 and Great great-grandfather of one. Roland est prédécéder par ses trois frères, Arthur (d.2010), Rosaire (d.2010) et Camille (d.2007) St. Pierre. He is also survived by sisters Rose Bondy (Joe), Germaine Hames, Cecile Ferranti, Maryann Coulson (Ken); and brothers Norbert St. Pierre (Evelyn) and Normand St. Pierre; SIL Helen Beaudette; Delia Loeback; Winnie Brown (Cecil); and BIL Grant Garrod. Roland also leaves behind countless nieces and nephews, and when the family got together it was a VERY LARGE family celebration.

Roland’s education brought him to many educational institutions across Canada and USA. He attended École St. Antoine in Tecumseh, ON then went on to Assumption High School, The Chicago Vocational Drafting School, Accounting in Toronto and the Seminary. One look at Joyce was all it took to know his love was not in the seminary. In the last few years Roland became a regular customer of Tim Horton’s and never turned down an opportunity to go for a coffee. Roland had received his 50 year pin, as a Union Member, of local 494, from his brothers and sisters United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Joiners of America in 2014. Dad always said his house was his only home. As an accomplished carpenter, with many talents ranging from heavy construction to furniture making. Building his home was his first major project where he raised a large family with both English and French roots in the Catholic faith. This was his one and only home until he chose to be with God and enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. As I write my Fathers obituary, this beautiful fall day, I could see it would have been a day whereby he would have been sitting in his lawn chair in the driveway, feeding the birds and watching the foot and car traffic go by, enjoying the outdoors.

Visitation will be held at Marcotte Funeral Home, 12105 Tecumseh Rd. E., Tecumseh (519-735-2830) on Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will begin from the funeral home on Friday, November 6, 2015 in procession at 10:15 a.m. to St. Anne’s Parish for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
